WHITE WATER RAFTING

India not only has superb rivers ideally suited to white water rafting it also has magnificent scenery to go with it.

The majority of white water rafting in India is confined almost exclusively to the northern rivers which are fed by the Himalayas. These rivers are unraftable in the winter due to a combination of the water being too cold and many rivers being simply frozen over. White water rafting is graded on a scale of I to VI depending on the severity of the rapids with VI being the highest.

Kaudiyala on the Alaknanda is one of the most popular spots for white water rafting in India. Kaudiyala is situated near Rishikesh which is some 250 kms from Delhi. The rafting at this location passes through densely wooded hills and then on through 2 of the best rapids on this run known as the wall and the golf course which are then followed by arriving in 2 large tranquil pools in the middle of the forest. The final section of the route sees you passing through various temples such as the Laxman Jhoola. (below)

If you prefer a slightly calmer ride then try rafting on the Indus which is more suited towards grade II and III trips. The river originally starts in Tibet and flows down through Ladakh, past Leh and onwards to Pakistan.

Rafting is also popular on the rivers Ganges in the North and Teesta and Rungeet in the East. You can even swim in the warm Ganges  inbetween the rapids.

For the novice who simply wants the experience we offer soft easy grade rafting.
