Mumbai - Day 1
 
Day 1-arrive Mumbai stay overnight at Hotel Grand Central

Mumbai / Diu / Sasan Gir – Days 2, 3 and 4
 
Days 2, 3, 4 - fly to Diu. Drive to Sasan Gir (about 2 hours) stay three nights at Lion Safari Camp. Sasan Gir is the only remaining place in the world where one can see the Asiatic Lion. The land is rugged with deep ravines, steep rocky hills and plenty of rivers. Morning and afternoon safaris into the park. Visit Sirvan-12km away-a unique village where people of African origin live retaining their own distinct culture.

Sasan Gir / Diu / Nagpur - Day 5
 
Day 5 - Drive to Diu (about 2 hours). Fly to Nagpur. Stay overnight at Hotel Tuli International.

Nagpur / Tadoba – Days 6, 7 and 8
 
Days 6, 7, 8 - drive to Tadoba (about 4 hours) stay three nights at Tiger Trails Lodge. An unspoilt park with good tiger sightings and also home to leopards, sloth bear, wild dogs, hyenas, jungle cats and three species of Indian deer-sambar, cheetal and barking deer, marsh crocodile. It is an ornithologist's paradise with a varied diversity of aquatic wildlife. Morning and afternoon safaris into the park.

Tadoba / Nagpur / Kolkata - Days 9 and 10
 
9 and 10 - drive to Nagpur (about 4 hours). Fly to Kolkata. Stay two nights at Hotel Taj Bengal. Visit Kumartuli, India's only potter’s town. Visit Marble Palace (subject to permission as this is a private residence), Mother Teresa's Ashram, drive past Victoria Memorial. Visit Belur Math and Dakshineshwar Kali Temple.

 

Sunderban Cruise - Days 11, 12 and 13
 
Days 11, 12, 13 - transfer to jetty to board MV Vivada. The cruiser sets sail south along the Ganges passing heritage sites and then entering Sunderban - the largest delta and the largest estuarine national park in the world, home to the Royal Bengal Tigers.

Victoria Memorial

The Sunderban cruise offers the following:

  • Half day at a Sunderban village (Sunderban Jungle Camp) - where village school, market, community work etc are experienced.
  • Ganga Sagar where the River Ganges enters Bay of Bengal, a beach experience and an important Hindu pilgrimage point.
  • Three good wild life sighting opportunities at Nethidopani creek, Burirdabri, Sudhayankhali
  • Activities during the cruise programme:
     - Cycling or auto rickshaw rides (depending upon the choice of the guests) along the paddy fields at Ganga Sagar.
     - Swimming and bathing in the Ganga Sagar beach
     - Creek rides in the Sunderban Island
     - Fishing by country boats
     - Angling
     - Night walk in the village
     - Moonlit dinner on Sunderban Island.
     - Mangrove Forest walk

Mangrove Forest

Take a boat ride through the creeks, visiting islands with an experienced wildlifer to experience the forest, spot birds and wildlife. After sunset enjoy folk drama and a traditional Bengali meal on board. Visit village Bali and experience farming, paddy husking, honey packing, fishing. Visit Sudhonyakhali Island frequented by the Royal Bengal Tigers.

Sunderban Cruise / Kolkata – Day 14
 
Disembark at Sunderban and drive to Kolkata (about two hours). Connect to flight to onward destination.
