India has a wealth of National Parks and sanctuaries – here we take you to parks ‘off the beaten track’ but nevertheless rich in wildlife. You will also enjoy a tea estate tour and traditional Bihu dancing.

Some of the other ‘off beat’ parks are -  Nagarhole, Wayanad, Madumalai, Bandipur in South India,  Pench in Central India, Rajaji  in North India, Jaldapari in East India. We will be happy to arrange visits to these parks and many more.

Day 1 -  Arrive  at  Dibrugarh and transfer to a Heritage Chang Bungalow (approx 30mins) in the midst of a rolling tea garden. Take a tour around a tea estate to learn all about tea – its origin and culture, how it is grown, about tea tasting and its quality. Drive through the greenery of well shaded tea plantations. Spot birds  like the Wood Pecker, Golden Oriole, White breasted Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher etc. Evening enjoy a dance performance by an ethnic Assamese Dance group on the bungalow lawns.

DAY 2 - Early morning drive to Guijan range of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park (approx 2 hours) –  a biodiversity hotspot situated on the southern bank of the river Brahmaputra. Return late in the afternoon. Overnight at Chang Bungalow.

Dibru-Saikhowa National Park has the most distinct and vibrant wilderness on earth and is known for its pristine scenic beauty. The forest in this park ranges from semi-evergreen to deciduous to littoral to swampy marshes with patches of wet evergreen jungles. About 36 species of mammals have so far been recorded in the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park – Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Jungle Cat, Sloth Bear, Malayan Giant Squirrel, Slow Loris are some to name a few. Dibru-Saikhowa is a safe haven to many rare and endangered species of birdlife. Enjoy several boat rides and walks around parts of the park’s southern fringes. Look out for  the White Winged Wood Duck, Bengal Florican, Great Indian Hornbill, Greater Adjutant Stork, Pallas’s Fishing Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Swamp Fran Colin, Swamp Prynia and Marsh Babbler.

Day 3 - Early morning take a nature walk in a natural protected forest area which is located approximately 10 kms from the Chang Bungalow. Drive to Kaziranga National Park (approx 5 hours). Overnight at Bonhabi Lodge or similar.         

Kaziranga National Park – a world heritage site, is home to more than 75% of the world’s population of the great Indian One Horned Rhino.. The main wildlife besides the Rhino is comprised of the Asiatic Water Buffalo, Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Swamp Deer, Barking Deer, Hog Deer and Sambar. More than 400 species of birds are found in Kaziranga

DAY 4 - Take an elephant safari in the central range of the park followed by a jeep safari  to the western range of the park. Also visit the eastern range of the park by jeep. Overnight at the Bonhabi Lodge or similar.

DAY 5 - Early morning  nature trek to Panbari range – a reserve forest and a natural corridor to the adjoining Karbi Hills. Spot woodland birds like the Shama, Paradise Flycatcher etc.

DAY 6 - Nameri National Park, located on the banks of the river Bhoreli on the northern side of the Brahmaputra. Situated on the foothills of the great Himalayas, it is another tiger and bison country. Deciduous forests with the river Bhoreli flowing by its side, have added a unique charm to it.

DAY 7 -  Drive to Guwahati (approx 5 hours) and check in at Hotel Vishwaratna or similar . Option to visit the Pygmy Hog  Conservation and Research Center at Basistha (15km away) from Guwahati to get the first hand knowledge and behavior of this endangered mammal.

DAY 8 - Transfer to Manas Tiger Reserve (approx 5 hours).
Overnight at Bansbari Lodge.

Manas Tiger Reserve -the most scenic park in Asia. A tiger country and a bird’s paradise. It is blessed with a beautiful combination of grasslands and woodlands. It is  home to the Indian Gaur, elephants, and a large numbers of primates including the almost extinct  Golden Langur.

DAY 9 -  Early morning  elephant safari. Later,  explore the park in an open jeep, go for a nature walk in and around the park. Overnight at the lodge.

The park is a paradise for nature lovers. It is a haven for no less than 20 highly endangered species e.g. pygmy hog, Royal Bengal Tigers, Asiatic Elephants, Hornbill, Hispid Hare etc. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this extremely picturesque park is located at the base of the Bhutan Himalayas.

DAY 10 -   Drive to Guwahati airport (approx 5 hours) for flight to onward destination.
