All Season Tour
Fully Escorted Tour - N E India - 13 Days / 12 Nights

From Kolkata or Delhi – Guwahati (Assam)  – Shillong  (Meghalaya)- Kaziranga Natioanl Park (Assam) – Dimapur (Nagaland) – Kohima – Tuophema – Jorhat (Assam)- Dibrugarh (Assam) – Kolkata or Delhi.

North East India is a lesser known, unspoilt area. Home to the Angami and Mishmi tribes, also Kaziranga National Park – known for its one horned Rhinos and over 450 species of birds. Also home of the famous Assam Tea. Here we take you on a tour of Nagaland and Kaziranga National Park. – an experience not to be missed.

 

Day 1 - Arrive at  Guwahati airport and transfer to Shillong (about 3 hours)

Meghalaya – the “Land of Clouds” driving through the Nilachal Hills of Assam. Check into Ri-Kynjai Resort  or similar. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the resort.

Day 2 - A day trip to Cherrapunjee (about 2 hours) – once the heaviest rainfall area in the world.

At an altitude of 1300m  above sea level, Sohra (Cherrapunjee) was once the heaviest rainfall area in the world. Sohra has gorges, luxurious vegetation and boasts of an innumerable variety of ferns, moss and orchids. It was here that the Welsh Missionaries and the Ram Krishna Mission started their services in the Khasi Hills

Day 3 - Visit  the butterfly museum. In the evening option to visit the local market or evening at leisure. Overnight at the resort (Shillong)

 

Day 4 -Drive to Guwahati (about 3 hours) stay at Hotel Vishwaratna or similar . After lunch, cruise on the River Brahmaputra upto the Umananda Temple on the world’s smallest river island known as the ‘Peacock Island’. In the evening, visit Shankerdev Kalashetra. Option to enjoy an Assamese meal.

Day 5 -Visit the Kamakhya Temple and then drive to Kaziranga National Park (about 5 hours). Evening at Leisure. Overnight at Bonhabi Resort or similar

Kaziranga national PARK  - is a World Heritage Site, where more than 75% of the world’s total population of the great Indian One horned Rhino can be found. About 400 species of birds are found in Kaziranga National Park.. Sighting is excellent and is always a great experience.

Note : The Park remains open from 1st week of Nov to end April only.

 

Day 6 - After elephant safari and later a jeep drive in the park  drive to  Dimapur  (Nagaland)  (about  2 hours). At Dimapur visit the Ruins of Medieval Kachari Kingdom. Post lunch drive to Kohima (about 2 hours). Overnight at Hotel Japfu or similar

Dimapur is the commercial hub of Nagaland. Dimapur, on the bank of  the Dhansiri river was once the capital of the Kachari Kingdom, remains of the broken pieces of stone pillars and other stone carvings can still be seen.

Kohima, the capital town, is situated at an altitude of 1495m  above sea level. It is the home to the Angami Nagas. A pretty town it is endearingly unspoiled, tranquil and immersed in history

Day 7 - Visit the 2nd World War Cemetery at Kohima, where the famous battle of tennis court took place, and the State Museum. Afternoon visit the handloom and handicraft emporium and the local market. Overnight stay at Hotel Japhu.

Note: Cemetery, Museum and Emporium remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Cemetery also remains closed on 1st Dec for maintenance purpose. 

 

Day 8 - After breakfast proceed to Tuophema (about 1 hour). At Tuophema take a walk in and around the village, also see the village museum. Afternoon at leasuire .Overnight at the ethnic cottages.

Tuophema, home of the northern Angami tribe, situated deep in the central Naga Hills, is a tourist village resort and a unique initiative on community tourism with all the ingredients of a traditional Angami Naga village. It was originally called Hutuophema after the Erithrina Tree in the belief that the village will triumph over the enimies of war.

Day 9 – Drive to  Jorhat  (Assam) (about 5 hours). Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Heritage Thengal Manor or similar.

Jorhat is another tea hub in the Upper Assam region. It is the headquarters of the Jorhat district and is the gateway to Majuli Island. Many small and big tea estates surround this town which were planted in the British days.
 

Day 10 – Drive to  Dibrugarh (about  3 hours). Enroute visit Sivasagar ,  see the ruins of the Ahom Monuments and visit the Shiva Temple, believed to be the tallest in existence. Overnight at Heritage Chang Bungalow

Day 11 – Enjoy a tour around a tea estate to learn all about tea – its origin, how it is grown and all about tea tasting and its quality. Evening option to go shopping and enjoy a dance performance by an ethnic dance group on the bungalow lawns. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.

NOTE -Tea factories are functional from March to December only.

 

Day 12 - Drive to Tai Phakial village (about 2 hours) - an ethnic village whose kith and kin date back to the Ahom period. The villagers still maintain their age-old culture - a village worth exploring. Return to Dibrugarh, enroute  see the Bell’s Temple. It has over two hundred thousand brass bells. Overnight at the Chang Bungalow.


Day 13 - Drive to the Dibrugarh airport (about 30 mins) for flight to onward destination.

NOTE – Permits are required to visit Nagaland. We can arrange these for you.

Options – extend your trip to Darjeeling,  Sikkim or Bhutan  or any other part of India.
