Delhi-Corbett-Nainital-Ramgarh-Almora-Kasauni-Delhi

Chillout in the most spectacular scenery in the world – and have a detour to the oldest National Park to find the tiger.  - Corbett National Park. Take an  elephant safari to find the tiger and then on to Nainital - tucked away in the hills on the banks of a lake. Take a horse ride into the hills and then on to Almora. This tranquil land within sight of the snow covered peaks is the place to relax your mind and let the body take the strain as you walk through forests of Rhododendrons. You have a choice – for real peace stay at Ram Gargh at the writers’ cottage where Tagore finished his masterpiece, or stay at Kalmatia Sangam Himalayan Resort with a view of the peaks. A further drive takes you to Kasauni – where from your balcony you see a panoramic vista – snow covered peaks. Walk in the hills or view the peaks from  the balcony.

Suggested itinerary:

Day 1 and 2 -  Arrive  Delhi stay at the Imperial Hotel. Guided tour of New and Old Delhi – Red Fort, Jama Masjid, ancient alleyway bazaars ( silversmith’s and goldsmith’s lanes – still home to hundreds of jewellery shops), Qutab Minar - the12th century tower of victory, Humayun’s Tomb, Lutyens New Delhi.

Day 3 and 4 – Drive to  Corbett tiger reserve (about 6 hours) . Though sighting of tigers is rare there is plenty of other wild life to interest the enthusiast. The best way to look for the tiger is on an elephant safari. If you prefer you can also do the safari in a jeep. Stay inside Corbett in a forest lodge (basic) or outside Corbett in the best available hotel.

Day 5 and 6 – Drive to  Nainital (about 4 hours),  a lovely cool spot in the hills on a lake. Take a boat cruise on Naini Lake  or take a guided horse ride through the rhododendron forests or trek to China Peak and Land’s End.

Day 7 and 8 – Drive to Ram Gargh (about 1 hour), and stay in one of the most enchanting and romantic spot in the foothills of the Himalayas. Tagore stayed here, in what became known as the Writer’s Cottage, to complete his masterpiece Gitanjali. On top of a hill, surrounded by the most fantastic views, there isn’t a better place to relax and let the worries and cares evaporate in the clear mountain air.  Or

Day 9 and 10 -  If Ram Gargh doesn’t take your fancy then spend  2 days at Almora (about 3 hours)  at the Kalmatia Sangam Himalayan  Resort, in sight of the snow covered peaks. Guided walks to mountain villages and a chance to even pick your own mushrooms.OR stay at Shakti and enjoy the village walks and treks.

Day 11 and 12 – Drive to  Kasauni ( about 2 hours) where, from your hotel room you get the most spectacular 100 km wide view of the Himalayan peaks including Trishul.  Walks in the woods, riding, or just relaxing in the hammock watching the peaks.  Stay at Hotel Mount Krishna or similar.

Day 13 -  Return to Delhi (about 6 hours) , stay one night at the Imperial

Day 14 – Flight to onward destination.
