After the successful run of Palace on Wheels and Deccan Odyssey the Indian Railways are now launching  Punjab on Wheels , Karnataka Luxury and  Southern Splendour

 


Heritage on Wheels takes you on a breath-taking journey directly through the heart of the bright and vibrant Shekhawati area of Rajasthan.

This picturesque region is known as the “open air art gallery” of Rajasthan

The trip takes place over 4 days and 3 nights staying in the relaxing luxury of the Heritage on Wheels train.

The Royal Orient – CURRENTLY NOT OPERATIONAL

the 8 day tour weaves through India’s most culturally fascinating states – Gujarat, Rajasthan and Diu. Travel by night and take day trips to  Chittaurgarh,  Junagadh, Mehsana, Sasangir – home of the famous Gir lions, Delwada, Palitana , Sakhrej, Ranakpur , Udaipur – famous heritage destinations in Rajasthan, Jaipur and then back to Delhi.

Punjab on Wheels –on its eight day tour the train will touch the world famous Taj Mahal, the Pink City of Jaipur and the hill resorts of Dharamsala and Kangra Valley in Himachal Pradesh. In addition , it will unveil  the splendour of Patiala, the cultural capital of Punjab housing the Sheesh Mahal and Quila Mubarak.

The train will then move on to the spiritual capital of Amritsar housing the Golden Temple. It will also provide a look into the abode of the royal dynasty at Kapurthala that houses the Jagjit Palace. From there the luxury train will move to the unexplored paradise of the Kangra Valley by Kangra Queen and culminate at the Wagah border where the Indian territory ends.

Karnataka Luxury – Karnataka is now all set to launch South India’s first luxury train – likely to be named as the Golden Chariot -  that will take Indian and foreign tourists on a journey through the rich natural and cultural heritage of the state.The journey will extend from the Arabian Sea and the fertile forested ridges of the Western Ghats with their thriving plantations of coffee, spices and the boulder strewn region of the Deccan Plateau.

The eight day luxurious package will include visits to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Hampi and Pattadakal, the grandeur of the Mysore Palace, the famed backwaters of Kerala with Ayurvedic massages, the Silicon Valley of India – the Garden city of Bangalore, and the ruins of Vijayanagara Empire.

It will also provide an insight into the wildlife of Kerala in Periyar and a visit to the coir factory and spice plantations.

Southern Splendour – a luxury train on the lines of Palace on Wheels, is likely to hit the rails soon.

The five day tour starting at Mumbai makes its way to Kochi – established as the Crossroads of the Battling Empires of Europe : Portuguese, Dutch and British. Sample a backwater cruise at Alleppy, then a day at Kumarakom with boating, fishing and the sought after Kumarakom Bird sanctuary. The tour ends in Kochi.
