Golden Triangle with a difference. A mix of the usual tourist trail, plus other interesting parts of India reflecting the heritage, the people. The normal tour of the Golden Triangle takes in Agra (Taj Mahal), Jaipur (Amber Fort, and Palace of Winds) and Delhi. Of course you must see these, you can’t come to India and miss out on a wonder of the world. This tour takes you further into 4 different jungles, each with a different terrain, maximising the opportunity to spot Tigers and other wildlife such as deer, wild dogs, leopards, monkeys, sloth bears, elephants and a variety of birds. We also visit Khajuraho which has a complex of 22 temples and Orchha with interesting paintings.

Taj Mahal

Delhi – Day 1
 
Arrive Delhi. Overnight at the Lalit Hotel.
 
Delhi/Nagpur – Day 2
 
Morning sightseeing tour of Delhi. Transfer to railway station for overnight train to Nagpur.
 
Nagpur/Pench – Day 3 and 4
 
Arrive Nagpur and drive to Pench National Park (about 2 hours) for a two night stay at Tuli Tiger Corridor or Taj CC Africa/Baghvan at a supplement*. The terrain is primarily teak forests and small hills. Morning and afternoon game drives into park in search of leopards and tigers.

 
Elephants

Pench / Kanha – Day 5 and 6
 
Drive to Kanha (about 4 hours) for a two night stay at Tuli Tiger Resort or Taj CC Africa/Banjar Tola at a supplement*. The lush forests and grassy meadows were an inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for the ‘Jungle Book’. Morning and afternoon safaris into park in search of tigers, leopards, sloth bear, wild boar, deer and a variety of birds.

 

Kanha/Bandhavgarh – Day 7 and 8
 
Drive to Bandhavgarh (about 6 hours) for a two night stay at Bandhav Vilas or Taj CC Africa/Mahua Kothi at a supplement*. The terrain is rocky but with a staggering amount of trees and foliage. Morning and afternoon safaris into park in search of tigers, leopards, wild boar, jungle cat, wild dog. Visit the interesting old fort with a very large reclining statue of Lord Vishnu.
 
Bandhavgarh/Khajuraho – Day 9
 
Drive to Khajuraho (about 4 hours) stay overnight at Hotel Radisson. Visit the complex of temples known for their sublime and sensuous architecture. Evening Sound and Light show.

Khajuraho/Orchha/Jhansi/Agra – Day 10 and 11
 
Morning tour of temples. Drive to Jhansi train station (about 3 hours), en route visit Orchha which houses interesting Bundela school of paintings. Take train to Agra. Stay two nights at the Trident or Oberoi Amar Vilas at a supplement*. Visit the Taj Mahal and Red Fort

 

Agra/Bharatpur/Ranthambore – Day 12 and 13
 
Drive to Bharatpur railway station (about 2 hours), en route visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city. Visit Bharatpur (about half hour drive), take a rickshaw ride in Keoladeo Ghana Park bird sanctuary. Lunch and then train to Sawai Madhopur/Ranthambore. Stay two nights at Ranthambore Regency or Aman-i-Khas at a supplement*. The terrain is made up of massive rock formations, lakes and streams. Morning and afternoon safaris into park in search of tigers, leopard, deer, monkeys and a variety of birds. Visit Ranthambore Fort – but beware of the monkeys scampering about.
 

Tiger


Ranthambore/Jaipur – Day 14

 
Drive (or take train) to Jaipur (about 4 hours). Overnight at Naila Bagh Palace. Visit City Palace, Observatory, Palace of Winds.
 
Jaipur/Delhi – Day 15
 
Morning excursion to Amber Fort. Drive to Delhi (about 4 hours) and connect to flight to onward destination.
